DuPont and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) partnered to develop an interpretive center located at the mouth of the Mispillion River in Milford, Delaware. The aptly named DuPont Nature Center at Mispillion Harbor Reserve officially open to the public on May 23, 2007, providing visitors with an optimum viewing location for the intersection of Red Knot migration and horseshoe crab spawning.
DuPont, under its Clear into the Future Initiative, has jointly underwritten the creation and construction of the interpretive center with DENREC. This renovated bayside facility features environmental exhibits and on-site educational programs and workshops. Visitors to the interpretive center will include students and teachers, as well as families, eco-tourists, anglers, birdwatchers, photographers and beachcombers.
